The Almata apple

The Almata apple is one of the prettiest apples we have at Maple Valley Orchards.   As you can see, it has a deep red skin and deep red flesh.  It's not an eating apple because of the tart flavor and slightly bitter skin.  However, it's a great cooking apple because of the color it adds to everything.  Almata is great for cider too.  We'll have scionwood for the Almata and many other red flesh apples this spring.  We may have a few trees too.
