When the wrong weather is helpful?!?

Something you shouldn't be able to do in Northeast Wisconsin on January 1st is working in the ground.  The ground should have been frozen since mid-November. However, we spent time on New Year's Day pounding in conduit staking for new heirloom apple trees. All of this on top of it being so wet. I appreciate getting tasks done that I didn't get to last fall but I'm very concerned.
